01

How is UAE gratuity calculated?

For eligible full-time foreign private-sector workers, the standard calculation uses 21 days of basic salary per year for the first five years, then 30 days per additional year.

02

Do allowances count towards gratuity?

The calculation uses basic salary. Housing, transport and other allowances are excluded.

03

How long must I work to qualify?

At least one year of continuous service is required. After qualifying, eligible fractions of a year are calculated proportionately.

04

Is there a maximum gratuity amount?

The standard gratuity is capped at two years of wages. Unpaid absence does not count towards the service period.

05

Is the linked calculator an official MOHRE service?

No. mohregratuitycalculator.ae is a third-party calculator. For official government information, visit mohre.gov.ae or the UAE Government portal linked below.

06

What should I check before relying on an estimate?

Check which employment rules and benefit scheme apply to you. Separate regimes and alternative savings arrangements can change the calculation. Confirm your settlement with your employer.
